Description

The Field Device Controller (FDC) 280 provides control and Ethernet/serial interfaces between single- or dual-port PLCs, drives and other distributed control devices and the EcoStruxure Foxboro DCS. The FDC 280 optimizes the integration of control devices such as PLCs, increasing flexibility while minimizing system engineering, floor space and cost. Features: Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) - displays letter errors and real-time roles and status, supports multiple network connections - Ethernet, RS232, RS485, RS422, 50% less floor space and cabling compared to CP plus FDSI solution, Online image upgrade (OLUG) of FCP280, no need to close the process, the protocol driver can be downloaded and upgraded online. FCP280 requires Foxboro DCS Control Core Services software v9.0 and above. The system using FCP280 and this software is called ecostrucxure Foxboro DCS process automation system. An optional dual-cable backplane supports four PIO channels but provides separate A/B bus connectors as well as a dedicated connector for an optional time strobe input. Fieldbus connection from the optional dual-cable backplane to the standard or compact Series 20O FBM requires separate A/B bus cables and a double "D" connection adapter on the FBM backplane (RH926KW).
